Foreign brands in China – blessing or curse?
My coaching career for German and Chinese managers of multinational companies began over ten years ago. Since then, international management has been one of my great passions and topics in coaching. How do I live and work successfully in a different culture? How do I introduce Team a project abroad, an intercultural one Team? How do I make important contacts? How do I speak to the media in China or the USA? I had to find out all of these questions myself for over two decades living and working abroad. The fact that I speak Chinese for normal communication helped me in China. But that wasn't enough. One of my discoveries: Culture is its own language, mastering which is crucial for success. Even if both conversation partners from different cultures speak perfect English, the understanding of what is said is often different without an understanding of the culture. That then leads to Teams, projects and businesses often lead to major conflicts. In my coaching program, I integrate my diverse experiences as a lawyer, entrepreneur, journalist and PR consultant as well as my international know-how from Shanghai, New York and London. For me it is never just about visible cultural behavior, but always about the deep understanding of a culture. In this way, not only business success is achieved. With the knowledge of your own cultural patterns of action, you also become a better leader.
