Definition: self reflection is the process of questioning and analyzing your own thoughts, feelings, actions and experiences.

It allows us to get to know ourselves better, recognize our strengths and weaknesses and further develop our personality.

Why self-reflection?

Self-reflection is important because it helps us:

  • Understanding our needs and values: Through self-reflection we learn what drives us, what is important to us and what makes us happy.
  • Recognizing our behavioral patterns: We can recognize how we react in certain situations and why we behave that way.
  • Recognizing mistakes and learning from them: Self-reflection allows us to recognize our mistakes and learn from them so that we don't repeat them in the future.
  • Our Objectives to reach: When we know ourselves well, we can define our goals more clearly and develop strategies to achieve them.
  • To live a happier and more fulfilling life: Self-reflection can lead to greater self-confidence, self-acceptance and life satisfaction.

Areas of self-reflection

Self-reflection can extend to different areas of life, e.g. E.g.:

  • Thoughts: What do I think about myself? What do I think about others? What thought patterns do I have?
  • Feelings: What feelings am I experiencing? How do I deal with my feelings?
  • Actions: How do I behave in certain situations? Why am I acting like this?
  • Experiences: What experiences have I had? What did I learn from these experiences?
  • Values: What is important to me? What do I strive for in life?
  • Strengths and weaknesses: What are my strengths? What are my weaknesses?
  • Herb: What are my goals in life? How can I achieve my goals?

Methods of self-reflection

There are different methods of self-reflection, e.g. E.g.:

  • Write a diary: Writing a diary can help you organize and reflect on your own thoughts and feelings.
  • Meditation: Meditation can help you focus and become aware of your own thoughts and feelings.
  • Conversations with others: Talking to friends, family or a therapist can help you gain perspective and gain new insights.
  • Mindfulness exercises: Mindfulness exercises can help you anchor yourself in the present moment and notice your own thoughts and feelings without judgment.
  • Self-reflection exercises: There are various self-reflection exercises that can be found online or in books.
