Mediation is a structured conflict resolution process in which a neutral third party, the mediator, helps the conflicting parties to resolve their differences on their own responsibility. The mediator facilitates communication and assists the parties in reaching an agreement that suits their needs and interests. Mediation is based on the principles of voluntariness, confidentiality, personal responsibility and neutrality. It represents an alternative to court proceedings and can be applied in various areas.
